Amna Ashraf has worked for McGill and Co since 2011. A graduate of the University of Aberdeen, she comes from a business background and is also a presiding member at the Children's Panel in Glasgow.
Amna is fluent in Urdu and Punjabi and has a keen interest in gender equality and family migration issues. She has developed considerable experience in family immigration matters and holds a very high success rate owing to her meticulous attention to detail and tenacious approach. She handles the majority of the firm’s cases under Appendix FM, also representing clients at the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) and acting as instructing solicitor at the Court of Session. She is skilled at presenting attractive and compelling applications to UK Visas and Immigration, making sense of often complex evidence putting her client’s case in the best possible frame.
Some examples of her successful work include Appendix FM applications involving complex financial positions, family applications from inside or outside the UK, cases involving the best interests of children, appeals under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, applications under the Immigration (European Economic Area) Regulations 2006 and nationality applications.
Amna is a member of Scottish Young Lawyers Association and Immigration Law Practitioners Association. She is the winner of the Scottish Asian Business Awards 2015 Young Achiever of the Year award.
