IAIN HALLIDAY SOLICITOR
Iain Halliday joined McGill & Co in 2014 after graduating from the University of Glasgow with First-class honours and completing the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Aberdeen. He first studied immigration and asylum law during the third year of his law degree, which he spent studying abroad at the University of Helsinki. Upon returning to Glasgow, he conducted further studies in this area of law in his final year prior to graduation.
During his time at the firm, Iain has been involved with the preparation and submission of numerous immigration and nationality applications to the Home Office; assisted with appeal hearings at the First-tier and Upper Tribunals (Immigration & Asylum Chamber); and assisted with actions for judicial review at the Court of Session. He regularly assists the Principals of the firm in relation to complex legal issues ranging from the posting of international workers to family migration problems.
Iain has successfully assisted and represented clients facing deportation, complicated EEA residency applications , British Nationality applications and challenging Human Rights claims including cases involving best interests of the child. He regularly assists with various Tier 1 and Tier 2 applications being processed by the firm.
Iain is a member of the Immigration Law Practitioner’s Association, a member of the Law Society of Scotland's Immigration and Asylum Committee and was shortlisted for the Trainee of the Year Award at the 2016 Law Awards for Scotland.
