The Blacklist

The Government has been ordered to publish the secret blacklist of 44 countries whose nationals, it is alleged, face more stringent immigration controls than others.  The list was compiled last year over concern that certain entry clearance officers were not complying with equality legislation.  The Government has intimated an appeal against the direction claiming that the publication could endanger Diplomatic relations. The publication of the list would serve to many as mere confirmation of what they already know.
